Your first week with R2: what would you learn first?

What would make the first week less overwhelming: a parked controls walkthrough, a short charging practice session, help with keys, or time setting up a repeatable commute?

An early-ownership Reddit discussion mixes delivery condition with everyday usability. That is useful inspiration for a learning plan, but one person’s experience does not predict yours. Reddit: early R2 ownership notes

Our suggested discussion format is three columns in plain text: task, why it matters to your routine, and whether it is already understood. Keep an “ask at delivery” section separate from things you can practice afterward.

Reservation holders can describe their uncertainties. Owners can offer a short lesson they actually learned, with the software version if screens are involved. Please say whether you tested something on R2 or remember it from an R1. Staff have not completed an ownership trial for this post; the purpose is to collect practical questions without pretending we have.

What should I learn about the R2 interface before delivery?

Conor Early · R2 Crew editorial answer · Checked October 24, 2026.

Use a short task list alongside the current R2 manual, then practice those tasks with the delivery specialist. Watching an entire walkthrough is useful, but it is easy to forget where the one control you need lives.

Before delivery, make a one-page list with these headings: access and backup key; starting and ending a charge; navigation and charger selection; visibility and climate; parking and garage controls; finding help. Under each, write the question you want demonstrated. Keep entertainment personalization for later.

At handover, ask to perform the steps yourself while safely parked. Start with entry, the backup access method, mirrors, defrost and charging. Ask where the vehicle shows its installed software version and how to find instructions that match it. A video recorded on older software or an R1 may still be helpful, but should not be treated as a map of every R2 menu.

After the first week, revisit only the tasks that caused friction. This turns a large manual into a practical learning plan without replacing the manufacturer’s operating instructions.
