Rivian delivered 19,248 vehicles in Q3. That isn’t an R2 sales total

The October production release gives company-wide totals—and a reason to read model claims carefully.

A production headline can sound like an answer to an R2 reservation holder’s question. It usually is not. Company output and the timing of one customer’s configuration are different pieces of information.

What the release actually says

In its October 2 release, Rivian reported 19,751 vehicles produced and 19,248 delivered during the quarter ended September 30, 2026. It reaffirmed a full-year delivery outlook of 65,000–70,000 and scheduled its financial-results release for October 29. The release does not break those totals into R2, R1 and commercial-vehicle figures. Read Rivian’s release filed with the SEC.

What that means for R2 coverage

It would be incorrect to relabel 19,248 as “R2s delivered.” Likewise, a photo of a busy delivery center cannot establish the national mix of vehicles. Model-specific claims need model-specific evidence, and a forecast should remain labeled as a forecast.

The release is useful as a company-wide production snapshot. It is not evidence that a particular reservation is next, that a chosen color is available locally, or that a pending order has cleared its delivery steps.

A more useful community delivery log

Our order-timeline thread asks owners to record their own milestones with a broad region and configuration. Keeping configuration invitation, confirmed order, vehicle assignment and handover separate makes comparisons easier to interpret.

Even a well-organized forum log is a voluntary sample. People who post may have unusually fast deliveries, unusually long waits, or more time to document the process. The value is in identifying questions to ask Rivian—not promising a delivery date from somebody else’s experience. If later company disclosures provide a model breakdown, this article can be updated with that evidence.
